Society
The Russian scientific Society of endovascular surgery and interventional radiologists was formed in 2002. Bagrat Alekyan, a corresponding member of The Russian Academy of Medical Sciences (RAMS), was elected chairman. The community was aimed to unify all the practices of medical specialists involved in the major tasks of endovascular methods of diagnostics and treatment of cardiovascular system diseases.
As the new specialty of “endovascular diagnostics and treatment” was introduced, the scientific community was reformed into the Russian scientific society of endovascular therapies in 2011.
The objectives set for the Society are rendering introduction of new endovascular methods of treatment of cardiovascular system diseases, education and training of the specialists, as well as development and straightening of international cooperation.
